UNITE Framework
UNITE is a pan-European programme under the European Commission’s Regional Innovation Valleys initiative, which builds a borderless European digital health innovation ecosystem and drives healthcare transformation through digital deep-tech solutions, addressing challenges posed by demographic transitions and ageing populations.
Key Call Details & Timeline
Important Dates:
- Call opening: September 10, 2026
- Information session: September 30, 2026 (register here)
- Submission deadline: December 10, 2026
- Project duration: April 1, 2027 – September 30, 2028 (18 months)
Financial Support:
- Total budget: €6,000,000
- Maximum funding per project: €1,000,000
- Maximum funding per organisation: €600,000 (including all UNITE open calls)
Innovation Challenges
The second UNITE Open Call supports innovative digital solutions addressing two key challenges:
1. Deep-tech innovations to secure equal health for the entire population
Solutions that:
- Support greater autonomy for elderly and disadvantaged populations
- Deliver more personalised care tailored to individual health needs
- Integrate fragmented healthcare services
2. Digital solutions to battle the health workforce crisis
Solutions that:
- Alleviate healthcare staff shortages through digital tools and automation
- Streamline clinical workflows and improve operational efficiency
- Address skill gaps through accessible training, education, and upskilling opportunities
Eligibility & Regional Requirements
Applicants must be legally established in and comply with the requirements of the following UNITE participating regions:
- Central Macedonia, Greece
- Lombardy Region, Italy
- Extremadura Region, Spain
- Aragón Region, Spain
- Scotland, United Kingdom
- Wales, United Kingdom
- Romania, national scope
Consortium Requirements
Each consortium must include minimum 3 organisations from 3 different UNITE regions:
- At least 1 company or other close-to-market solution provider
- At least 1 research entity supporting the company from any perspective
- At least 1 end-user organization demonstrating the solution in real-life settings
Each consortium must respect the regional balance and include:
- At least 1 organisation from a strong innovation region (Wales, Scotland)
- At least 1 organisation from a moderate or emerging region (Central Macedonia, Romania, Lombardy, Extremadura, Aragón)
